Benefits of Self-Leveling Coatings

Floaterra is a multipurpose sinker-floater, self-leveling epoxy floor coating for both decorative and industrial uses. Self-leveling coatings are an excellent option for worn or deteriorating surfaces, providing a seamless, wall-to-wall flooring solution. Floaterra is highly durable, sustainable, and aesthetically beautiful look for any surface.

Durable & Practical

Floaterra is a seamless ‘wall-to-wall’ application. Not only does this hide most minor surface cracks, pits, and other imperfections that may exist in the flooring, but it also allows the floor to be easily cleaned by simply washing with a hose or with chemical cleaners. Additionally, Floaterra stands up against most chemicals commonly found in garages, labs, and manufacturing sites, perfect for any area exposed to high levels of foot or vehicular traffic.

Versatile

Floaterra was developed for the high impact needs of commercial and industrial applications, but can be used for residential projects as well. The Floaterra system is available in eight universally attractive colors.

Sinker-Floater Coating

A sinker-floater coating is a high-build, self-leveling epoxy floor coating. Installation of the Floaterra sinker-floater coatings creates an appealing look, but with easier application and fewer steps than broadcast system coatings.

Unlike other self-leveling epoxies, Floaterra is engineered with materials of two different densities. The majority of the higher density resin mix sinks below the surface, while the lower density color additive works its way to the surface during the curing process. Once cured, the hardened coating dries to a gloss and becomes an easily cleaned surface that is abrasion and chemical resistant.

FAQs

Will epoxy flooring self level?

Yes, self-leveling epoxy flooring is designed to flow and level itself during application. It creates a smooth, seamless surface by filling in minor cracks and imperfections in the substrate.

How thick can you pour self-leveling epoxy?

The typical thickness for self-leveling epoxy coatings ranges from 1 to 3 millimeters (approximately 1/32 to 1/8 inch). However, for specific applications, the thickness can be adjusted as needed, and some formulations allow for thicker applications.

Is self-leveling epoxy expensive?

The cost of self-leveling epoxy can vary based on factors such as the quality of the product, the area to be covered, and the complexity of the installation. Generally, self-leveling epoxy can be more expensive than traditional flooring options due to its durability and specialized application process.

Can you epoxy an uneven floor?

Yes, self-leveling epoxy is specifically designed for use on uneven floors. It can fill in minor cracks and imperfections, creating a smooth and level surface. However, for significantly uneven or damaged floors, some preparation work, such as patching or grinding, may be required before applying the epoxy to ensure the best results.

What makes Floaterra different from other self-leveling epoxies?

Floaterra is unique due to its sinker-floater technology, easier application compared to broadcast system coatings, and its pigment-free composition which reduces the risk of bleaching or fading.

What surfaces can Floaterra be used on?

Floaterra can be used on a variety of surfaces including commercial and residential garages, warehouses, manufacturing plants, commercial kitchens, athletic facilities, stadium hallways, laundromats, basements, and laboratories. For optimal performance, using the appropriate primers can help prepare these surfaces, ensuring the best possible adhesion and finish.
